Indian Film Academy Awards
The Idea International Indian Film
Academy Awards, 2008, held in Bangkok,
was staged with its usual pomp and glitter. The colorful IIFA weekend of 6th-8th
June gave out some deserving music awards.
The romantic
song, “Jab se tere nainaa” from the film “Sawaariya”, won Shaan the award, for
the Best Playback Singer (Male). Shreya Ghosal bagged the award in the Best
Playback Singer (Female) category for the melodious song “Barso Re” from
“Guru”.
A.R. Rahman was
adjudged the Best Music Director, for his composition of “Barso Re” in the film
“Guru”.
Veteran lyricist
Javed Akhtar got the Best Lyrics award for the song “Main aagar kahoon” from
the film “Om Shanti Om”.
