Kashmir’s all-female FM station

The FM station in Kashmir,
India is unique
in its own sense. Kashmir has seen tough
times. However, music is now been played over the FM station and is actually
acting as a healer for people in Kashmir.

Farah Khan, aka Sara, is a popular radio jockey with the
valley’s all female FM station. She is a law graduate turned RJ and is proud to
be part of the change in the Kashmir valley.
She feels that her profession is as normal and challenging as being a doctor,
lawyer or an engineer.

Another women RJ, Syed Yusra Hussain, aka Sophie (23)
anchors a women’s show, which is a success. Her parents supported and
encouraged her decision of becoming an RJ. Sophie feels that the FM station is
part of the change and every class of the people listens to them. She is sure
that she is bringing smiles to the faces of her listeners.

There are just three RJ’S in the valley and all of them are
well known. They are the first ones in Kashmir to make their mark as women RJ’S
on Kashmir’s FM station.
